Tape sounds good for some things and there some things while in my opinion fewer, that sound better without tape. This includes real tape machines and pluggins. Im not saying pluggins sound the same as the real deal but they definitely can be used to get similar effects.
Software can do anything you like if you know how to do it. Just because it is not tape does not mean it cannot sound like tape. The last two years improvments in computing power have allowed developers to emulate components in analog gear so the sound goes through each one before you hear it. take a look at Slate Vcc and U-he Diva to see the result of the new way of doing audio.
so? what do you think? i tested the uad a800 for 2 days so far. but i am not sure if i should get it. it sounds great on some sources, but 350 € seems to be lot, no?
