Namaste Experience is the name of the club event that takes place every Wednesday night at Las Dalias in San Carlos, Ibiza. The overall flavor of the event is Asian (the term "flavor" is used advisedly here, as Asian food plays an important role in the festivities), but the musicians, DJs, painters, and photographers who contribute come from all over the world. The result, judging from the liner notes and photographs accompanying this compilation disc, sometimes gets a bit goopy ("Creativity offers the greatest opportunity for transformation -- let's make miracles!"), but the music presented here is generally brilliant. Whether it's the combination of Jon Michell's bluesy guitar licks and percolating funk on Real's "Letting Go," or Robert Eich's deliberate, chugging Afro-Asiatic groove on "Oceanic" (complete with gorgeous sampled vocals), or Paco Fernandez's slow-then-fast ambient jungle workout "Manali," almost everything here contributes to a rich, kaleidoscopic collection of world fusion styles. Recommended.
