Just unloading some of my frustration over the heat wave. Why am I always surprised that summer is hot?

  • Oh MY! It sounds like your summer is going like mine! I'm now living with my mom as her caregiver. She's 89 and had a stroke at the end of June. I'm now in her house with her, and it's HOT! I wear as little as is modestly possible, and my mother is wearing long pants, socks, slippers, sometimes 2 shirts underneath a polar fleece jacket! Had I not had the angioplasty, I would not be able to do this. Wishing you cool thoughts, cooler air, and people who know how to use the A/C

  • @curmudgeonine I'm so sorry about your mom AND your summer. I'm glad that your procedure is at least helping you cope with the heat. I hear that age makes people feel colder, so I guess we should take our heat sensitivity as a sign of youth. ;)

  • The cooling vest is a really good idea and make sure they see it!! Maybe then they wil understand a little more..or not. Do you have a lot of humdity there? That can make it so much worse. I get the same thing if I am too hot. Still your present it with such a wonderful wit!

  • @MSVlogSupport Humidity -- YES! I heard it was 89% humidity most of the week. I just wonder how that's possible. What' is 100% humidity? Isn't that just called 'water'? The cooling vest doesn't really do much for me. They start melting and after about 30 minutes, I'm just in a warm insulated heavy cocoon. :( Maybe I don't know how to use it? Maybe I should just strap the frozen packs directly to my skin with duck tape?

  • I have a few names for people like those if you want to borrow them LOL Christine had a good point the cooling vest, I have one and it may not be in fashion but allows me time with friends and getting out more. I hope things get better for you soon.

  • @ThePennygirl Thanks! I am lucky that I don't have to go outside too much. It's a little boring, but something of a luxury, I guess. I have tried to choose jobs that let me be in AC, but sometimes it just backfires. Hard to control the whole world!

  • @sandyCanada56 I think it's hotter than usual pretty much everywhere. So we're running the AC more than usual, which I guess contributes to climate change even more. It's a vicious cycle. !

  • @christinedavi I've tried a cooling vest at one place where I teach (a private company) just one hour a week. It only keeps me cool for about 1/2 an hour, and after that, I feel like I'm encased in warm gel. Maybe I'm not using it right.

Anyway, I'm going to stay in AC as much as possible.

    Thanks for the good wishes.

  • sorry about that heat. Does the lady at work know you have MS? I heard of people using those cooling vests maybe you could try that. Hang in there...
