Dr. John L. Munro, Director of the ICLARM Coastal Aquaculture Center in Honiara, Solomon Islands, discusses funding sources and plans for the giant clam hatchery then under construction on Guadalcanal Island.
This interview was conducted on March 27, 1987, at James Cook University in Townsville, Australia. Thanks to Dr. Munro, James Cook Uni., ACIAR, and the donor agencies mentioned in the video. Interview and video production by Gerald Heslinga (NMFS/NOAA), who was part of the ACIAR regional giant clam project review team in March-April, 1987. ACIAR is the Australian Center for International Agricultural Research.
The ICLARM Coastal Aquaculture Center's giant clam culture program ceased production and was abandoned in 1999, when the facility was destroyed during a period of tribal violence in the Solomon Islands.
