tracee245: this TV series is not based on an American TV series, it's an adaptation of the Colombian soap opera "Yo Soy Betty la Fea." Even "Ugly Betty" is an adaptation of the Colombian one.

really? the news i read said it was based on the American version and the website had a picture of the American Betty. But maybe they are both based on the Columbian one, which also means they are based on one another.=)

Yes! :) Look for "Yo Soy Betty la Fea." It was produced by RCN (Colombian channel) back in 1999. It's one of the BEST TV series/soap operas of all time. It was adapted in many countries such as Germany, Greece, Spain, Mexico, Denmark, Holland, USA, Philippines, Vietnam, etc. Actually, I watched a couple of scenes of Chou Nv Wu Di in YouTube and the scenes were almost exactly like the original one.
