Demo of the inline lunge for the Functional Movement Screen.

Take a stick and place it as demonstrated behind your back. The stick should be in contact with your head, upper back and tail bone with your hands in the crook of your neck and lower back. Step forward with the foot that is opposite of the hand on top into a lunge position. The feet should be in line with each other. Descend straight down, trying to touch the knee of the trail leg directly behind the heel of the front leg. Do 3 reps and then switch your hands and feet to test the other side.

  • As long as your weight is staying back on your heel the shearing forces on the knee associated with the "knee forward" thing are overblown

  • is the knee suppose to go out in front of the ankle like that?
