Hello. My name is Darryl Burgess, creator and producer of OUTDOOR MOOVIES. Here, I make a cameo appearance. UPDATE: I recently went to Florida again, unfortunatly without a camera, and man have these sites changed. All the construction crap, cinder blocks and such, havbe been removed from the WALES site and now over a dozen cows can be seen grazing on grass in front of the still intact snack bar. Sure wish I had had a camera, glad to see that remnant still intact. Attention drive in fans: If you are ever in Lake Whales, Florida...tape and post the cows in front of the abandoned Wales Drive In snack bar. Thank you! Same can't be said about thre MULLBERRY. A few months ago, high winds and several tornados ripped through the area. The beautiful screen tower you see here was litterally ripped in half, with only a half still standing. GypsyCelt65 posted a video called "Old Drive In Movie Theater" which shows the damage. Check it out! Hopefully, those remnants will remain as a reminder of what once was. Not that it matters, in this age of faceless communication, but, I actually appear breifly in this clip, which was part of the final episode of REQUIRED VIEWING (1979-2007), my public access TV series. I've long been interested in drive in remnants, bits and pieces of drive in theaters that remain long after the last movie is shown. Here, we visit 2 Florida sites. The audio cuts out at the end, i think i was saying that these were very cool sites. If you ever have a chance to roam around an old abandoned drive in, or, just look at it from the side of the road, take your time and enjoy it. Honestly, I enjoy being at abandoned drive in just about as much as going to an open one. Even at the open ones, i spend a lot of time wondering around and soaking up the atmosphere, especially if I might never return. Thank you for taking the time to view my clip. Comments are always appreciated. By the way, there's another look at the MULLBERRY DRIVE IN at the very end of the RUSKIN DRIVE IN, Florida USA clip.

  • Fascinating. This generation has no idea the fun and memories made in such a place..

  • @walldinowalldino Thank you for the comment. What amazes me is that there are so few drive ins left, but look at all the golf courses. What's with that?

  • Thank you for the 243 views and 7 likes!

  • i miss drive ins those were the days.not to many of them around anymore.

  • @musicman257 TGhank you for the comment, so few do. I miss them too. Something draws me towards abandoned drive ins. As a child, me my mom and brother stopped at a BIG BOY on a road trip and I was allowed to check out a drive ion turned into a salvage or junk yards. All thbe cars were parked on the ramps facing the screen, and someone had puty al;l the sxpeakerfs in the car windows. Very cool. Even if just a screen remains, quite a site, I think.. Empty lots are depressing.

  • Abandoned sites should always remain intact!

  • @dunbarGirl007 Yes, I agree. Nothing sadder than to see an empty LOT where a beautiful drive in once stood.
