1979 single from San Francisco powerpop band that included ex- Jefferson Airplane and Hot Tuna bass player Jack Casady. My favorite song from them.

  • I thought Jacks Band SVt was supposed to be a Punk Band !!!!! Sounds like a Bad version of "We built this City" Statship 1986. When I saw them in 1999 , that is the Jeff. Star. they killed @ Carnegie Hall NYC. Marty Balin is no joke on vocs. Only means one thing .... Jorma ,Jack , Paul & Marty need to get back together again. Talk about staying with times, the 1st rap song was Plastic Fantastic Lover . Don't get any idea's now !!!! PEACE

  • @TheSAXXMAN A bad version of 'We Built this City'??? I guess I'd be asking too much if I expected everyone to appreciate good powerpop. Did Plastic Fantastic Lover predate Give Peace a Chance (Plastic Ono Band)? I always thought that was the first rap song.

  • OOh haven't heard this in decades! Great tune. Yeah they would come into the Palms sometimes when I worked there. Too bad about Bryan, I remembered well when that happened. Everyone was so high back then, some got in too deep. Yanks & SVT--totally. rocked. What happened to Jack J.?? Such a killer guitar player. Anyone know?

  • I'd also like to know what happened to Jack (and Paul Zahl too - killer drummer!). My knowledge ends with their stint with The Flamin' Groovies.

  • @sivadca Thanks sivadca, I'm pernicketty but I can't access that account any more. I no longer have the single so I don't know which label it was on but the picture you see in the video is the picture sleeve from it. It would be great if you could post the version you have. I'd love to hear it.

  • never heard this version. I have a different, harder version. To julieH, i've been to ur uncle's grave, paul zahl ex heather took me. Brian was very talented and missed. RIP heather as well, miss you

  • Brian Marnell is my uncle... wish I could have met him. He was truly destined for greatness

  • There's an in-studio, video version of "Heart of Stone".

I saw it on TV, early eighties. Untill you've heard it; you haven't really heard this song !

  • @pernicketty.... LOL.. HA HA TEE HEEHE, You tell em Dude! That is sooooo funny!!! SVT_Suzie@yahoo.com

  • Red Blue Jeans and a Pony Tail!! SVT was my favorite band...

  • What a Band. Brian was the coolest guy on Earth!

  • @bgroovy2

oh yes. The Stone was across the street from The Mabuhay Gradens on Broadway in North Beach. And I even remember the other 2 (Key)Stone clubs in Berkeley and Palo Alto. Eek! I'm feeling old right now, even though I'm really noi! How did that happen :>)
