not to dis on the vid ( btw, good that you identified it as a sling, not a slingshot), but somebody could get much more power if you attached 2 foot cords to each end, with a loop on one as a finger loop to hold it. Also, though difficult with the sling he is using, one typically wants to use stones between golfball and egg sized.

the sling is a very underrated weapon. I have slung rocks the size of an egg over 150 meters using an 80cm sling. a hit with sling will sever 1/2" thick tree branches. it's much more powerful than a slingshot. it does take a lot of practice, but the weapon is free and so is the ammo (both in terms of resources and energy/calorie wise).

It's great for targets of opportunity while you're on the move. a sling in your pocket along with 2 or 3 rocks weighs almost nothing and takes very little space.

You can also kill big game with a sling if you are skilled because the impact of the stone can be tremendous. If you want to have more information visit slinging.org they have lots of useful guides and articles!

I would suggest that you build yourself an easy sling and take it with you. It just requires two small cords and a patch of leather or a few meters of cord if you make a braided one. I already made half a dozen and it doesn't even take half an hour. Additionally you can use the sling as a belt or as a hair-band. :D

I actually like the idea of using the bandana but if you build yourself a sling you can achieve more power and reach and the weight is ridiculously low.
