A new concept from Honda.

-Info-

The Honda Chopper is another vehicle to come courtesty of the imagination of Peter Norris, the same guy who created the Pininfarina Coupe concept.

The Honda Chopper's styling draws on many and varied influences. There's the clean functional lines of medical machinery, 70's and 80's marker drawings and design (such as the Big Trak programmable electric toy vehicle), and a bit of manga thrown in. Just for good measure, there's also a healthy dose of Imperial speeder bike from Return of the Jedi.

The concept has a long front end and feet-forward seating position which mimics the layout of contemporary chopper bikes, but with a distincly more futuristic vibe. Norris chose Honda as the brand for his concept because the bike has a similar color scheme and rounded-off rectangular lines as the Honda ASIMO robot.

The downward facing handlebars and central headlight (positioned under a scowling brow) bring some extra attitude to the design. While the large exhausts, which at first glance look like luggage panniers, feature blue-lit LEDs giving it an almost jet-like quality.

The proposed power source for the Honda Chopper is a biofuel engine backed up by two small electric motors, one built into each wheel hub.

  • @Doomsdaydev1ce You're correct to say that choppers are stripped down, but other distinguishing features of a chopper are a relaxed seeting position with feet forward, and long front forks/suspension. Also, it's just a name, not really worth getting worked up about. Artists get their inspiration from many places and I may well have been inspired by the NES. If I started it again there are things I'd change for sure, and maybe it would be unsafe. Bikes aren't really for the most safety concious!

  • @banana387 Are you Peter Norris, the person who created this concept?

  • That concept is horrible. Unless you meant to design a mike that would ensure instant death in the event of an accident. Because that's the only reason a vehicle would have a giant block in front of the rider. -to instantly crush a ribcage. Also, a "chopper" is so named because it is a motorcycle that has had most of the body panels removed, as if it had been "chopped" down to just the bare essential hardware.

And for that matter, why does it look like it's made of recycled NES cases?

  • @Doomsdaydev1ce I don't know. Don't ask me, I didn't create it. Someone called Peter Norris did.

  • hw does the steering ... work?

  • @ZeroKenshin No idea.

  • i feel like... if your not master chief... then you shouldnt own this bike.

  • Oh Great next thing ya know some furry little bastard will steal one and when ya go after it JEDI will show up. No thanks

  • omg this is sexy

  • Is it me or does this bike look like a remix version of the original nintendo, lol

  • Oh its a thumb drive.

  • Its a hot design I want

  • ... and if you wanna see a bike that'll smoke this one, flip the seating around ; )

  • If you want to see the bike in action, watch "Final Fantasy - Advent Children".

  • How the hell would someone even be able to sit on it?

  • Maybe it isn't aerodynamic, or practical, or compatible with the aesthetic of our day, but damn if that isn't just about the ONLY concept motorcycle I was ever interested in actually riding.
