Recording of radio communications between United Air 93 and Cleveland Center on September 11, 2001. I'm not sure why the last second of audio is cut off; blame Windows Movie Maker. I did the titles myself; the audio is from www.airdisaster.com

The line "somebody call Cleveland?" was triggered by two mayday calls on another radio channel. They're not audible in this recording, but can be heard at the Wikipedia article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_Airlines_93#Hijacking

Upon checking the written transcript from the NTSB report of the crash, the first line is: "Good morning Cleveland, United ninety-three is with you at three five oh, intermittent light chop."

  • Just use the in plane intercom system? Sorry I am ignorant about planes. It just seems stupid to me that he would tell the world he had a bomb aboard and scare the control center...

  • @s14fruppert I'd imagine he meant to use the intercom and sent it to the tower on accident. Look at the other things he said: keep sitting, remain quiet. These sound like instructions to the passengers.

  • All planes were alerted once it was clear the first two planes were hijacked, 93 was sent a message asking them to be on the look out for "cockpit intrusions" and were told two planes had already been taken over, 93s pilots confirmed they got the message before they were hijacked themselves.

  • @AndiPandiification And stricter standards have been put in place since; at the time, the door to the cockpit was something weak. Without an air Marshall on board and a cockpit door that wouldn't stop them, there wasn't much to stop the hijackers, except the passengers

  • Absolutely astounding the comments suggesting this is other than the tragedy it was. Here's one for you boys and gurlz, especially you conspiracy theorists : If your not a liberal by the time your twenty, you have no heart. If your not conservative by the time your forty, you have no...BRAIN !!! Can't quite remember where I heard that first, but it so rings true.

True American heroes on that plane-went down fighting. Shut it you liberals....

  • It seems to me that the hijackers were meaning to use the in-plane intercom and accidentally used the microphone that contacted air traffic control. Something similar happened to the hijacker(s) on flight 11.

  • Why did the terrorist broadcast that he had a bomb to Cleveland? Why didn't he it

  • @stixie211 Theyre just trolls looking to piss people off. Its obvious the captain was the terrorist posing as the captain of the plane. Liberal Idiots!

  • @zeldadog76901 u got owned by JeremyMcCraken

  • @Squeaky4CC At the beginning they hadn't been hijacked yet; the point at which the hijacking occurred is where Cleveland Center said "Somebody call Cleveland?" The audio coming from 93's cockpit after that was one of the hijackers accidentally radioing the tower.

  • @zeldadog76901 because they had already heard about the other planes...

  • Goddamnit listening to this makes me so fuckin angry, this day is the reason why I joined the Army and kicked the shit out of Al Qauda. I hope the souls of these piece of shit hijackers are burning in hell for all eternity. I will glady go to afghanistan and kill more of these fuckers

  • @huskysenior2011 I know how you feel. A friend of mine who used to keep his politics to himself started peddling this stuff to me. It was quite a moment- for him. I don't think he was prepared for how vehemently I didn't want to hear this. Because he was a good friend, it appeared to take him aback. He asked me how I felt and I told him I was offended. It seemed to matter to him. It also seemed to make him want to think about how this stuff is hurting people who are already hurting. I hope so..
