Jazz Utsav 2010 - Synopsis

Jazz Utsav Festival (formerly known as Jazz Yatra) has been a regular fixture for the Indian Jazz fans since 1978. The festival is being held simultaneously over the same weekend in the cities of Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore. The organizers of the festival are CAPITAL JAZZ, a non-profit organization headed by ex-Solicitor General of India and avid Jazz fan, Mr. Soli Sorabji. Some of the well known artists who have played at the festival over the years include:John McLaughlin, Mike Stern, Pandit Ravi Shankar, Sonny Rollins, Stan Getz, Trilok Gurtu, Charlie Byrd, Herb Ellis, Charlie Mariano, Bugge Wesseltoft, Amit Heri Group and many others.


This year Jazz Utsav has an exciting and varied line-up, from the jazz-blues guitar legend Larry Carlton headlining the festival, to the elctro-Indian-jazz of Erik Truffaz, Talvin Singh & Murcoff; Indias drumming legend Ranjit Barot performing with Tim Garland and Dominique DiPiazza and many more artists representing a diverse range of jazz.
