It is the Popes intention that his visit to the Holy Land help deepen dialogue between the Church and Judaism in such a manner that Jews, Christians and Muslims may live in harmony. Benedict XVI expressed this intention during his speech to the delegation of the Chief Rabbinate of Israel and to the Pontifical Commission for Religious Relations with the Jews.Benedict XVI noticed that according to the Nostra Aetate declaration of Vatican II, the acknowledgment of the rich common spiritual patrimony makes dialogue necessary and possible.
