The second full Moon of August--a "Blue Moon"--is just around the corner. It will probably look just like any other full Moon but, on rare occasions, the Moon really does turn blue. Could it happen this month?

I think this phrase 'blue moon' refers to the rare view of earthshine on the dark face of a thin crescent moon. When they are visible, it is only for from fewer than 20 minutes up to about an hour, once or twice a month, if at all.
