  • I wasn't aware that the Styptic powder burned until last week when I was at TGF and they told me that. They also recommended corn starch. Kudos for you for sharing this kind of info with people. I also love the sweet sound of Aussie's chattering. I had never paid much attention to budgies, but they have the sweetest sound. BTW- Great sick cage. Anyone who has more than one bird should have specific supplies for emergencies.. getting any ideas for a future video topic??? :-) Great job! Daryl

  • THanks!! I am working on research to do a medical preparation for the feathered ones!!

A blood feather is normally a new feather growing in that still has blood in the shaft area; the body is still bringing nutrients to the feather until it's finished growing. They're more prominent as the bird is growing and molting. The little pin feather's (I think) you're thinking about are the new feathers on their head or smaller feather sections growing in. If they have little caps on them as they come up, or when feathers are still emerging, they're pin feathers.

  • What exactly is a blood feather?? You don't mean the small pin ones, do you?

  • what kind of flour?

  • blood feather? do you mean pin feather? if so these usually stop bleeding very quickly.
