I'm not a big fan of Disney's California Adventure, but Soarin' Over California was one of the few original attractions there that was really done RIGHT. The visuals are stunning, the ride system is perfect and relaxing...and don't get me started on the music.

Too late.

As evidenced by the fact that I've spent hours refining, memorizing, and practicing my arrangement of Jerry Goldsmith's jaw-dropping score for the attraction, I definitely enjoy the music. It uses a full orchestra with a little bit of synths for flavor, and the bulk of it consists of alternation between a majestic fanfare and variations on a peaceful theme that literally soars. All the changes perfectly compliment what's happening on the screen and leave us no option except to sit back, relax, and be swept away by the amazingness.

Anyway, this is indeed my arrangement from start to finish, and I'd certainly appreciate tips on how to improve it. Enjoy, rate, and comment, please! Emphasis on the first one. =D

Oh, and do note that while nothing happens on the screen from 0:30 to 3:30, the first 30 seconds and the last minute do feature changes on the screen, so feel free to watch those instead of letting the music play in the background while you do something else. :)

I hold copyrights to the photograph of Granite Peak, as well as the digital paintings of the clouds near the beginning. The blue screen was also created by me.

For sheet music, follow this link. Note that this document reflects a more recent arrangement than the video, so it'll sound a little different - a little better, hopefully. LINK: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=8LCBTJTL

  • Can you some day play california screamin's music and post it on you tube?

  • @Rct3andCP Screamin' is definitely a possible future project. =)

  • My day was just absolutely and completely made by finding this! =D

  • @cdreed725 I'm glad you liked it...but be sure to check out version 2, which is listed as a video response! :D Maybe I'll post a version 3 someday, since I can play it better now and have a better recording setup...

  • Anyway you could teach other amateur piano players how to play the song? or where you got the music sheets from?

  • @ClevelandBro24 Well, the sheet music came from my brain, haha. I play by ear. As for teaching other amateurs how to play it...that's what the sheet music is for! =P

  • That sucks! You should try "There's a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow" on the piano. That could sound very cool!
