An advice from my observation: You should work on your tsukis – your elbow joints will thank you for that. You actually are overextending them. Punch shorter and keep your elbows down. Not sidewards. A good approach on doing that is keeping the elbows close to your body when thrusting your arm forward. If you look closely your elbows go out. The result is overextension. Also a lot of power is lost because your body is not "behind" your punch. It also makes it easy to armbar you.
I am studying Shorin ryu karate with the NAMKA and their aim is very similar to this shorin ryu style yet most schools or organizations try to be very strict and try to keep the teachings as stanarded as most instructors as well, i personally think sensei Jim does a wonderous job of showing good through out all of his katas which makes his work look easy but in fact they are not they need practice, practice, practice.....
@jtwidmer Looks like the Shorin Ryu, I just started karate, but this is definitely the kata we're learning right now. The only thing I can nitpick on is the beginning and ending, he doesn't bring his hands up and then phases them downward, its just straight downward that he does. But I guess to each his own, lol.

mai, ashi, tae! mai, ashi tae! mai, ashi tae!
If my sensei saw me do that, I get a shinai to the back of the head.
Good snap/power though.

at my school we learn katas where we LOOK FIRST then legs and hands.
you cannot power your way through a kata you need to SHIFT/MOVE COMFORTABLE
