We all love to put our thoughts into words with the hope of some truth and reality to spring out of our reasoning. But to does who believe that natural cause and effects are the engines that produce information inside the DNA, Problems arise. These problems are so huge that we dare not talk about them. We close our eyes and wish them away.

Respiration is not the same thing as combustion. The Internal Combustion Engine relies on pressure differentials produced by rapid combustion to drive mechanical components. Rapid combustion requires a special set of conditions to produce the necessary pressure gradient. Respiration uses electrical potential to drive chemical reactions. Oxygen actually constitutes a minor portion of the entire energy production chain.

@silverbackman you cannot say with absolute certainty things like "natural intelligence is essentially indifferent -it cannot be compared to human intelligence" because how do you know for sure? That is simply what you "think", but based on no real evidence.
I personally "think" the nature of intelligence itself is a lot more mysterious and interconnected, and perhaps much more different than what we might suppose. But then again....that is just what I think.

Yes that is true. Nature is indifferent to human/animal suffering and pain. But from an a creative perspective, nature is very intelligent. Suffering is not necessarily something bound to just organic life .....only organisms who have nervous systems....meaning most animals must endure real pain. We ourselves are apart of nature, and thus apart of his intelligence. Perhaps the unconscious plan for humans is to somehow end suffering for all feeling creatures, but only time will tell.

@Surwin - it was me (filmmaker) who suggested that NI was indifferent. Yes, an opinion. My point is that Nature is not like a person. I reckon there is an intent and purpose and function to all of Nature - but this is indifferent to, say, people suffering in tsunamis or floods or whatever. In the details, there is indifference. I assume.

Interesting stuff.....certainly nature has something we would call intelligence. We didn't just come from dumb rocks or organic compounds, obviously if we are the product of nature, nature is intelligent.
However I think there is something else that might dispute the "intelligence" of nature, depending on how you look at it. That is of course the issue of suffering.....why would anything intelligent like nature "create" suffering? Suffering is certainly an unintelligible aspect of nature.

@silverbackman - natural intelligence is essentially indifferent -it cannot be compared to human intelligence - its more like an autonomous unconscious intelligence inherent in the system we call Nature. Suffering and pain seem to be bound up with organic life - but there is no malice there.
