How to make beautiful silver "Egyptian Link" spiral earrings; in this video I demonstrate how to construct these beautiful earrings in easy to follow, step by step instructions. To create the earrings that you see me construct in the video, I used 18 gauge, nickel silver wire. When I make these earrings in sterling silver, I use .035 sterling silver wire, soft, round. You can also experiment with the many wires available at craft stores. I particularly like to use Black Stove Pipe wire. Black wire gives these earrings a distinctively unique look. The construction of these earrings that combine the spiral with a coil requires the use of three different types of pliers, round nose pliers, chain nose pliers, and diagonal cutters.

Each earring consists of three Egyptian links, and each link is constructed from a five and one half inch length of silver wire, and a coil that consists of five loops. To complete the earrings once the basic links are finished, I attach them to a pair of pre-made ear wires that I purchase at a craft store.

  • Your videos are the best. Thank you.

I would like to use 925 silver wire for the Egyption link. In one of your videos you wrote that you use 18 guage. Is it dead soft, half hard or full hard that I should use?

    Thanks for watching my videos!!

When I work in sterling silver I use .035 sterling silver wire, round, soft. Don't use half hard or full hard.
