This is "Pass It On," from the original vinyl recording of "Tell It Like It Is," a Christian youth musical from 1968. "Pass It On" has since become a standard for many churches and camp groups. It is a tradition at the high school I attended to use the song at a candle-lighting ceremony commemorating the graduation of the senior class and the arrival of the incoming freshman class. This video includes a short clip from my own "Pass It On" ceremony in 1999.
The Episcopal School of Dallas is a K-12th grade college-preparatory institution founded in Texas in 1970.
Quick digitize that tape-- many old friends are looking for Tell it Like it is!

"Tell It Like It Is" and "Come Together" are my two favorite Christian musicals. I have both on cassette tape. "Love is Surrender" from "Tell It Like It Is" is another great song. I played my cassette tapes so much I amazed they survived all these years *S*.

Thanks for uploading this marvelous song. I first heard this song right after becoming a christian at the age of 16 in 1973; I still feel the same touch of those long ago days. Wouldn't it be possible for you to upload the other song from this albumn? I learned it in Portuguese then I learned it was an American christian song by Ralph Carmichael. I have the song book but I don't have the recording. I would love to hear any other songs from the albumn. If you could I would dear. Thanks anyway.

I toured the better part of the lower 48 with a group performing "Tell It" in the late '60s...after literally hundreds of performances, I'd bet I could play the lead guitar and bass parts from memory, 40 years later.
The band had to arrange the entire score ourselves, since one was never published (just a tepid piano accompaniment score was available). So we took some liberties with it, as did the director, and probably expanded it in ways that Carmichael & Kaiser never dreamed.
