This is a video I made about grey wolves. It is for my science class
What I was saying in the video:
The grey wolf, which is also known as the timber wolf or just wolf, comes from before the ice age. The grey wolf is related to the dogs we have as pets. Wolves can live in many places including mountains, deserts, forests, grasslands, tundras and tiagas and sometimes cities.
The grey wolf used to live in many more places, but because of humans, its territory has been wiped out, the wolves are no longer able to live in some of those areas.
Gray wolves are 2- 2.5 feet tall at the shoulder and their bodies are between 4-5 feet long. Male wolves weigh about 90 pounds and females weigh about 80 pounds. Gray wolves can run 35 mph and can jump 12 feet.
When wolves howl, it helps them keep in touch, allowing them to communicate in forests and over great distances. Howling also helps other wolves know the locations of their packmates. Howling can also tell other packs about territory boundaries. If a pack has something to protect, like something they killed, they might howl to keep other wolf packs away.
There are between 7,000 to 11,200 wolves in Alaska and more than 5,000 in the rest of the u.s. Around the world there are an estimated 200,000 wolves in 57 countries, compared to up to 2 million in earlier times. Wolves live, travel and hunt in packs of 4-7 animals on average. Packs include the mother and father wolves, called the alphas, their pups and other young animals. The alpha female and male are the pack leaders that track and hunt prey, choose den sites and establish the pack's territory. Wolves develop close relationships with each other. They often show that they like their family and may even sacrifice themselves to protect the family.
Under the Endangered Species Act, gray wolves are endangered in all 48 states, except Minnesota. In Minnesota, they are listed as threatened.
Endangered means that a species is in danger of becoming extinct in its habitat, and it may die out in the future.
Wolves will eat anything from field mice to huge caribou. As predators, gray wolves help to maintain balance in the food web. The loss of wolves in biomes have lead to the overpopulation of other animal species.
That height and weight deal is wrong bro. They can reach 150 pounds and are an average of at least 120. They're more like 3 to 3 1/2 feet at the shoulder and some alpha males have been know to be larger. 2 feet at the shoulders isn't even domestic dog height for most species dude.
