  • I have a 1988 red knobbed twin, except my amp is red tolex with black knobs, i have never seen another one like it, except for a picture of it. Is this version or the amp rare, do you know???

  • no idea ... sorry

  • Man you guys got it all wrong, Thats a fender twin reverb 85 watts RMS 4 606gt power tube, 4 12ax7's, 2 12at7's, and a solid state reco. And yes it is a freaking LOUD amp and no they dont mesure them differantly than solid state amps..

  • No. Actually it is a 1977 super twin reverb. 180W, 6 6L6. Freaking loud ...

  • 180 watts? just becaasue it has 2 90 watt speaker dont make it 180

  • No. Actually it is a 1977 SUPER(!!) twin reverb. 180W, 6 6L6. Freaking loud ...

  • OMG you look like a guitar amp! :D

  • See? Squiers are great guitars. When people bash them, they're most likely still playing them through the cheap solid state combos they came with.

Ain't nothin' like the good ol' American Super Reverb.

  • Very Good !!!

Wich kind of pickups do you have, on your strat ??

    Thank's

  • amazing playing.

  • The red knob Twin is not rare. I have one here. They seem to have poor resale value and I've seen them go as low as $350 on eBay. I got mine used in 1991 for $550. I have changed the speakers in mine to Warehouse Speakers' TE65 and really think it is an improvement. I also started using a ModTone dynodrive on the lead channel to add sustain and improve artificial harmonics, etc. Sounds great. An amp tech told if Fender still built amps of such high quality as the red knobs, they'd be $2k or more

  • @krumlov Do you have to crank it to get a good sound? or can it rock the lower volumes?

  • The evil side WAS the overdrive. Horrible. I have one of these super twins sitting in the stable downstairs. I really like the parametric EQ they added. And 180 watts of headroom is nice, even if 'animal' is your drummer you WILL be heard.

  • anybody know a brand of phototube i can get to put in my 73 silver to make the vibrato more defined?

  • Is this the one with the potty tube in it that is rare as golden shit?

  • Nice amp and sound, I want it!!

  • No! The Red Knob Twin badged as "The Twin", which had red knobs from '87-'90 then went to black knobs, IS NOT called the Evil Twin. The amp badtged as "Twin Amp" was introduced in 1995 and is known as the Evil Twin due to the advertising campaign of the day. The joke being that it looked like a Blackface era amp, but had an evil side which was the overdrive channel.

  • Just got this amp last night. For the record mine was in awesome shape with newer tubes. I paid $300 local. Im sure its worth $600. It appears from 2005 its price was $400+ and now going up to $650. But if the "Trend" for LOUD ever happens this will be the amp to own. I think 80's rock will come again?? lol...
