New York City - Saturday, March 15th

Three people were arrested and six others injured after a riot broke out as thousands of aspiring models were waiting to audition for spots on a popular television series at the Park Central Hotel. Police Department officials said three people were arrested on charges of inciting to riot and disorderly conduct and also stated the department doesnt know exactly what prompted the chaos on W. 55th Street.

The panic left the street outside the hotel littered with chairs, sleeping bags, clothes and shoes abandoned in the rush of screaming models.

The drama started at dawn when girls who had slept in the line overnight found that if they stepped out of the line they would not be able to get back in. As hours went by, thousands of impatient people were pressed into each other. Police arrived to place barricades along the street, but by that time, people were already fainting.

The actual riot broke out when a car with smoke pouring out of it pulled up to the curb and someone in the crowd yelled "bomb! Next, the barricades came down and everyone started shoving and screaming.

The auditions were for the television show, Americas Next Top Model that airs on the CW network and stars former model Tyra Banks. Of the thousands of models that showed up for the open audition in New York, only a dozen contenders will be selected to appear on the show following three more audition sessions in Chicago, Dallas and Los Angeles. Lets hope the models in those cities know how to behave a bit better. There are better ways to find and attend modeling auditions.
