I don't remember the part where Ecto-1 explodes after hitting the SWAT truck that was shooting them down and also them flying 50 feet.

That is EXACTLY what it looks like when the hood of a '59 flies off and goes over the car. Bonus points for parts of it falling off spontaneously from rust and catching on fire for no damned discernable reason.
