@Edd614 Thats what Jody Scheckter said. I didn't hear Patrick Depailler or Ronnie Peterson complain about. I always hated Jody Scheckter.
-
@jasonsitu The 4 front wheels were smaller, creating less drag caused by the large wheels that stick up over the front wing. It improved front aerodynamics.
-
@jasonsitu maybe more traction for turning
-
@Schrecklassnach38 they were basically go karts with huge engines. so much driver control and concentration needed to drive them.
-
does anyone know why they gave it 6 wheels instead of 4? whats the advantage of having 2 more front wheels?
-
I never thought that the 6 wheel Tyrell that Depailler is driving here was a great car, but it is amazing to see Patrick powersliding in it. Nice upload.
-
apparently is was a 'piece of junk' to drive!

Damn! Look at the steering wheel at the beginning. That was some hard work back then. I really like the old Formula 1 cars and I hold those drivers in high regard, but it was way too dangerous. Sadly...
The P34's were done racing before the 1980's (1978 was the last year). This particular footage is from 1977. I think one has been restored and is participating in classic car races.

Depailler drove the P34 in 76 and 77, remained at Tyrrell for 78, and then Ligier in 79.
