@SheWhoFeels : Letters of Recommendation traditionally start with, "I have known so-and-so for _______..." ___ = length of time. The longer you have known a Mentor, the more solid the letter is from the beginning. There are more Pearls of Wisdom in obtaining the most Outstanding Letters, so stay tuned for more!

@tongw7393 : You got it. If you really really really want something, then start to act as if you already have it. This way, the attitude pervades your very being and you continue to strive forward, against what ever hurdles lie ahead. Believe in yourself. Onward and Forward!

So true! Awesome video Dr. M.! Also, make sure you ask the right people. Who among your contacts will help you the most/write most positively about you? If you volunteer in a local ER or other medical care setting, get to know the staff. Be good to the nurses! You will learn a LOT & may get a letter from one of them, too. Uni profs are a primary resource for letters, but one from someone working in the medical community is an awesome addition. :)

Yes, hard work, dedication and relentless.

...that being said...can I get a letter of recommend as an outstanding patient? ha ha!
@DysautonomiaMD: I probably should have worded my comment differently. It was actually intended as a contribution from my own experience back when I went through this process, too. I meant to pose my question for premed students to ask themselves. ;)

@SheWhoFeels : Nice. Either way, we contribute and learn ;-). And you are right about the nurses...they have been there longer than a medical student or an intern (or a Fellow)...so the better one is able to get along with the nurses, the farther ahead the housestaff can go in learning. Please keep posting your comments....we appreciate your input and your guidance is just outstanding!
