where do you get those contaners or do you cut the shapes out of a contaner.

I cut the shapes out of the container. Make sure to watch video part 1 on how to cut your container.

Do you own any real knitting looms at all, or are you just cheap and creative?

if you work the stitch prior to the first stitch, this will hold the yarn quite nicely (what you are doing is called an e-wrap)
