Tenor Steve Davislim and pianist Simone Young perform the Benjamin Britten arrangement of folksong 'Foggy, Foggy Dew' and speak about thier approach to presenting this piece. From 'Benjamin Britten Folksong Arrangements', MR301120, an SACD released by Melba Recordings.
@58227vocal I find this a bit narrow pronouncement of Davislim's interpretation. I adore Allen's version (and many others as well) - but don't need to see a "preference." While perhaps not to your liking, this is as valid an interpretation as any. I, for one, found it thoroughly captivating.
In my opinion, you have missed the cheeky humour of this piece altogether. Take a listen to Thomas Allen and Roger Vignoles. The joke is in the final punch line and you don't bring this across. Remember that they are folk songs with a heritage which Britten enhances with the accompaniment.

Thanks for the posting. I'm working on this song for my college recital, so it's very helpful.
