the 16x is suposed to be from factory in the rx8 next year... lighter, more hp and better fuel economy... !

Hope that the Mazda's next renesis can come with the X-rotor engine, not two, but 3-rotors. In respect, it will be 24X renesis. Let's hope for the first super car to come up with that, minimum 400bhp, I bet. Let us dream on, ZoomZoom

Though the Wankel engine has had a series of technical problems for several decades now (and still do, to some extent), I just love their combination of elegant simplicity, compact size, and excellent power-to-weight ratio that NO reciprocating engine can match. If any company can address the remaining issues (such as low thermal efficiency and high oil consumption) of the Wankel to a significant degree, it's Mazda.

The thing i love the most about this engine is the aluminum casing. The cast iron is sort of old and heavy, glad they're getting rid of it.

@FourSidedPiston Probably not, yeah. Would be nice if Mazda madea 2.4L Rotary. If the 16X makes as much power, etc as they expect, this will be a huge leap in rotary tech.

You won't see any 24x around. Unless Mazda produced the engine, which I doubt. You'll see a 32x at most, those should boast a shit load of horsepower.
