Multi-tasking is fine, I work, I text my wife during lunch. If I employ you and you don't work, your gone, plain and simple. Also, I have quite a few 18 to 20 year old employees and they (now) work. Furthermore, they now realize that they are much more viable and valuable in the workplace.

In this age of corporate greed, I can see why they have no work ethic. Most people are not paid to do the job they have been given. I give credit where credit is due and everyone makes what they're worth.

Idiotic! The older interviewees on this program are make gross generalizations about an generation, (mine or the next one down I assume- I'm 28), that seems to be based on a few limited or immature individuals. Are "airheads" and "space cadets" a new phenomenon?

And the younger people being presented are clearly naive teenagers who were clearly picked solely to emphasize the points their elders were making!  The generation gap is a real thing, but this manner of discourse widens it.

Idea: Boomers like me need to make the employment contract a linked tweet in which incoming employees must read a line, click [Yes I Agree], read a line, click, etc. Make one line, No personal calls/emails/etc. during work hours. The Millennials will either honor the job or not have a leg to stand on when fired...that is, until the Boomer spends 15 minutes makes golf plans during the work day.

kids are kids, just cuz you give them better and shiny toys does not make them NEW OR DIFFERENT.

and whats wrong with texting?i mean really some times you have a job where your not doing anything so just text,you want them to EARN THEIR WAGE then just give them something to do idiot, then again some people do it when on the job, and that will most likely just make you a jackass for acting like a 13 year old girl with a texting adiction at the age of 22 and a job.

back in the day 'social networking' meant sneaking out back for a smoke-- now it's a commlink OCD where they don't realize that they own the comm, it doesn't own them.

and the eye contact thing is also not new, nor is corporate greed.

Some of my generation would say "don't hate the player, hate the game" ... but I say no. I'm as hyperconnected as the best of them (Facebook, Blackberry, MSN), but when I'm at work and I need to get sh!t done - it gets done. I don't care who's texting. Then again, I'm now an Electrical Engineer. When I was one of 15 other monkeys at Staples or McDonalds - forget it. I was on my phone texting whenever I could get away with it. Why? Because I was NEVER valued as an employee - I was disposable.

I so agree with you. Corporate greed is ruining the work ethic of people..I do have to say that there need to be better communication skills in the service type work..some of these people I can't even understand there english, pretty bad...There is a lot of lack of repect out there!!!

These guys obviously don't need to work. Mommy and Daddy will take care of them.
