La Marmotte 2010. A very long hard day in the Alps.

Unfortunately I was running low on battery and could only record a few seconds of the Galibier & Alpe d'Huez

  • @louwlife Cool, glad to be of service! That was mid way up the Glandon, we still had a very hard ride ahead of us. I'm heading back there in two weeks for another crack. Watch this space for more helmet cam, this time I'll try to capture the glorious descent of the Galibier.

  • A mate of mine just sent me the link as he spotted me in the video (from 1:05 to 1:20 - I'm the guy in red). Pretty cool to see the imgaes back again. Tough ride...

  • @ricadus True, true. It was quite a pleasant temperature at that point of the Glandon. I didn't so much mind the Galibier for heat as it was high & cool, but the first 5km or so of Alpe d'Huez was brutally hot. Thanks go to the many locals who were handing out water & dousings on the final climb up!

  • 3:45 About here feel just great... the sun is up yet it's cool (about 8am), most of the first big climb is done and there's a long downhill and valley section next. The endless slog up the Telegraphe/Galibier and the furnace of south-facing Alpe d'Huez haven't figured in the thoughts too much.
