that was one of the reasons why I was a member of the blondie-fanclub when I was 12. now, at 45, I stilll don't regret it. that was a good choice.

I owned Eat to the Beat on tape cassette in 7th grade and played it till it wore out. This song is a fantasy of a "perfect world" where her determination to be with this guy is so powerful that it grants her psychic power and elevates her premeditated interaction with him to that of fate rather than mere "accident." Debbie's singing is so cool and laid back you almost don't notice how psychologically deep it is for a song about obsessive love.
