Manny's Cheesecake Fire. 8/25/11.

An iconic Utica landmark, Manny's Cheesecake burned down around 5am. A baker inside the structure smelled smoke and got out to call 911 just before the building was consumed in flames. Arson dogs have investigated and nothing turned up, it is talk that it got hit by lightning. It's under investigation, crews stayed on scene all day and through the night watching to make sure the fire didn't spark up again. Today, the 26th, the building was demolished.

My grandparents live in Utica and we always used to get Mannys cookies. They were great. I'm gonna miss it. I'm a volunteer on Melrose FD near Albany.
