People want Sheldon and Penny together for the same reason they wanted OCD Monica and goofy Chandler together, or how they wanted Jack Nicholson and Helen Hunt together in "As Good As It Gets", or why Marylin Monroe married a geek guy or Einstein marrying a "normal" woman.
They are far and few between, but boy we do love those couples.
