In the build up to the 1978 Commonwealth Games Mike Mcleod and Brendan Foster ran the trial on course to break the world record, then they bagan to slow as neither wanted to loose the race. Foster appears to cut Mcleod up at 200m to go.
Mike McLeod was an underrated athlete who delivered big time. He has a better Olympic medal than Foster and should even have received gold after Cova's blood doping confession.
I am wondering where is that great 5000 metres from Rome 1974 where Brendan Foster was really blazing. He would have done a great new world record if there would have been someone to question his gold medal. Besides Foster is a British gentleman and a friend of the great Finnish atheletes like Lasse Viren.
The quality of opposition in the Montreal Olymipc 10,000 was far superior to LA

I think McCloud was a secondary runner to Foster. The world never saw how great runner Brendan Foster really was.
This is my compliment to a fine British gentleman.

It's great to have Deano on here. Lord Coe's international PR agent. Deano's now lobbying the Palace and No. 10 to get Seb's Knighthood sorted.

McLeod should've had the gold. Cova was a doper too, just like that lanky blonde-haired cheating bastard Vainio.

I'm glad McCloud won because Foster cut him up.

Interestingly a couple of months later Coe beat McLeod over 4 miles on the road by 7 seconds and broke Foster's course record in the process.

Now Bren - you know better than to cut up Mick on the final bend and rile him up.
