The algebraic method of elimination is used to solve systems of linear equations. This lesson demonstrates how to solve a system of 2 equations in 2 unknowns using elimination. This is one of a series of math video lessons created for the MPM2D grade 10 Academic math course in the province of Ontario, Canada.

  • hi

is there a video that explains what 'Simultaneous Equations' is?

i need a basic introduction to Simultaneous Equations and what they are?

    thank you

  • @hyylo Hi,

I don't have a video on Simultaneous Equations, but the main idea is this. In order for 2 equations to be simutaneous, this means they are equivalent. For example 2x - 3y = 7 and 8x - 12y = 28 are simultaneous since the second one is 4 times the first, hence they are exactly the same line (equation). Now you can rearrange equations too, so y = (2/3)x - 7/3 is also simultaneous to the first 2 equations since it is really just the first equation solved for y. Hope this helps.

    Hi

    Thank you for the reply.

Would it be possible if you could make a video that introduces the topic of Simultaneous Equations?

I suffer from dyslexia so it takes me longer to learn things. I have watched some of your other videos and they have been helpful. Could you please make a video that introduces this topic?

    Thank you!!!

  • @hyylo We are in the middle of startup for a new school year now so I'm very sorry but I won't have the time anytime soon to make any new videos unless they relate specifically to the courses I'm teaching this semester. All my videos I've posted to YouTube are from courses I've taught the last several years.
