@johnosandra ur an idiot both sports are for people who can fight. but boxing is for people who can throw hands. mma is for people that have a combination of ground game and stand up. take Bernard hopkins great boxer. he used to think the same as u. but recently he came out saying an mma guy would kick his ass in 5 seconds.

ahhhhh.. ok that makes sense.. sweet

ur technique is lazy!!! not hate just saying!!

Theoritically, what you say makes sense. However, I don't think it's really as accurate or effective - otherwise we Thai or Pradal Serey fighters would've been doing that centuries ago... Very thought provoking though.

Alternating power works great from the hip up. I don't think it applies as much from the hip down (in other words as it applies to kicks). The power comes more from a combination of angles, balance, speed, hip movement and launch conditions. It takes about as much time to set up those factors whether you alternate/switch or not. In fact sometimes right hand already out after a punch sets up a pretty good counter balance lead to fire off a right kick immediately.

I am so happy to hear that. thank you, im sure im going to have a lot more questions later on thank you
I don't do to much specific shin conditioning. Our heavy bags are pretty hard and we do lots of pad work. Beating your shins up actually does more harm then good in the long run.
Protect your shins during sparring and drills. Condition them thru bag and pad work.

At UND1SPUTED i learned to throw out my right hand with the right kick for just for balance i guess but i moved to another gym where they told me to keep it up. what do you think. i still throw out the hand, is it a bad habbit i need to get rid of?

I teach to counter balance with the hand also - if you keep it up you are not as stable. Balance increases power - extending the hand creates more balance.

this doesnt work when he does a left kick because he has to change stance - it seems ok for the punches and a right kick, but you cant have a continuous motion if youre switching stance
fishimon 3 years ago
The stance is not changed - the switch kick continues the weight shift and flow.
This is not a new concept and the combos are nothing new. This is standard practice in Dutch Thaiboxing and many Japanese groups like Seidokaikan which I trained under.

i suppose its my own personal preference then, i wouldnt do it like that, as in switch stance. I would however, use a left kick if the opponent was moving away from me, as i could step forward with the right and close the distance

If the guy doesn't back up you switch - if the punches knock them back you do step with the right then kick with the left
I think we are on the same page - its hard thru clips to go over the finer points
