  • Actually, faster is better for intercity rail infrastructure. There are arguments for slow, scenic trips on vacations and such, but to compete with airlines, trains need to be fast, comfortable and cheap.

    Safer? Japan's shinkansen, the fastest large scale intercity transportation network on the planet, has operated for 40 years and carried 6 billion passengers without killing any of them. How, exactly, do you beat that for safety?

  • the Clocker is the oldest Amtrak line. First train Amtrak ever ran with one of them there steam locomotives :3

  • @cornrowcity it used to be diessel but they converted that locamotive into electric by taking out the engine and made them electrified
