Love the Q and of course Terry get lots of adulation and attention as well he should, BUT man Joey's style of bass playing is off the charts for me. He sounds more like a stand up player on electric bass then any I can remember. His subtle back beat placement along with Tommy's perfect drum work is unbeatable in my book. I try to turn everyone I can onto the Q and their world.

@transparentape You are absolutely right! I've seen them, and I've never seen a drummer lift the snare hand as high as Tom does! Never hits ahead of the beat, I'll tell you that! Great band.

My first concert was NRBQ in 1972 at The Weston High School in Weston Connecticut. There was probably 35 people there and we had these girls sitting in front of us that we started up with. My buddy Keith came up with saying that he was the cousin to Greg and Dawyne Allman. They bought it. What a night vey cool remember that Ross or should I say Johny now. Very cool time.

Tom, Joey , and Terry have the most unusual techniques. I have never seen any one else play like they do on their respective instruments. It doesn't even look like they could be making those sounds. Who holds drum stick like that? Who plays bass like that with their right hand? No one else. The material may not sound incredibly groundbreaking, but to me NRBQ is one of the Weirdest bands . The 1970 Ludlow Garage recording is one of my favorite albums. NRBQ-Real Rock Heroes!
