Tandberg Huldra 7 and tape recorder Model 6

This is a video of my Huldra 7 AM/FM stereo receiver and the Model 6 tape recorder.

The Huldra is a 10-tube AM/FM receiver with a 2*3 watt stereo class A amplifier with EL84 and ECC83 tubes. It has 4 AM bands plus FM. Shortwave coverage to 23 MC/s. The FM stage has its own independent tuning system that is connected to the tuning knob when the FM button is pressed. It is (theoretically) possible to fit a FM stereo decoder in it, but i don't know if this decoder unit ever went into production. In other word, radio is in mono only. The tape- and record player inputs are in stereo.

The Model 6 tape recorder is a tube-based 3 speed, 3 head 4-track stereo unit. The tube filaments are heated with DC to avoid hum and other noise. Recording and playback amplifiers for each channel works completely independent of each other, operated by the black buttons under the head box. The middle button (as showed) is for the electromagnetic pause. A foot switch was available as an option to control the pause function. The model 6 does not have a built-in power amp, which was unusual for domestic tape recorders of the time. This early version is driven by a "System Papst" motor which is an unusual construction, as the OUTSIDE of the motor rotates while the windings which are placed in the center of this rotating "barrel" remains stationary. This gives this motor a very high torque the size and power taken into account. Later models had a smaller motor by Engel Electric.
