If this is not a legitimate debt because of I.D. theft or some other problem beyond your control, No problem. If you owe this money you are a dirtbag for not paying.
Why do you even TALK to them? By LAW you do NOT have to pay a 3rd party collector unless they bought the debt from your creditor. If you attempted to pay for it with your bond, you admitted you owe the debt. Best thing to do is send collections a Cease and Desist and say their services are no longer needed. in America, reference Public Law 95-109 (a) - (c). NEVER deal with collection agencies. They will ruin your credit even if you pay. Tell them to lick your sack, bro.
Seriously!!??!! Just taking a guess here but since you seem to gone to some extent to research your "rights" I would suggest this is hardly the first time you have dealt with collection agencies. Here's a novel idea.... pay your bills! Time to grow up and take a little bit of responsibility for yourself!
Collection Agencies don't have contracts with you as they are third party. The only way they get them is by tricking you into a verbal contract. How are they gonna go to court with no contract? This is like if i randomly called people in the phone book claiming they owed me money then told them I wasn't required to show proof of claim.
One question I have for you syndrah....how does it feel to know you are a proffesional debtor?...all I see is you thinking you are smarter then a collection agent, also they have to have your permission to put you in collections?
Well....Thank God for America.

no, they would be toast because they cannot substantiate with a essay of loss., a proof of contract and a debt instrument.
