I also believe mma has won they got the network TV deal with FOX. I like Pac's style and attitude better but then again if Floyd won that fight and retired undefeated and got his promotion underway and sinks people like Shaw and Arum and gets a network TV deal for boxing it would be really good and bring boxing and mma back. Now is the time Floyd, the NBA is down you can bring the African American fans back to a real mans sport like boxing instead of basketball.
@stander1983 I know Floyd's issue is more with Arum than Pac its obvious. Your exactly right. Don King was bad but I'll give him credit he made the fights in the 60's, 70's, and 80's @ least happen.
Eli, boxing is hard to really appreciate and enjoy it unless there fighters that put alot of actions like Pacquaio (non-stop actions from round 1-12). Boxing is supposed to be actions with punches, knockdowns, knockouts, and major drama on the ring. This is what people pay to see. People don't enjoy football games if only score field goals, baseball without home runs, soccer without scores, etc. Boxing don't get much popularity without major and full power actions like again, knockdowns, etc..
Echoing what others here have said: Because of PPV where only those who can fork out big bucks can enjoy it; the "alphabet soup" of sanctioning bodies involved in the sport where you have numerous titles for the same weight class, e.g., WBC, IBC, WBA, WBO, NABF and so on; the greedy promoters that keep us from seeing the best, in their primes, fight each other; prima donna fighters who only fight once or twice a year, at best, and the removal of the 15 round championship fights.
