Young Bruce Wayne is walking out of a movie with his mom and dad, when they are cornered and robbed at gunpoint by Jack Napier "The Joker" and Bob.

@woollybully100 I kind of agree man, although the film is entirely dated, and this scene comes off as ALMOST being pretentious... It's still a lot of fun, in terms of how it was executed. Reminds me of something you might see from someone who just graduated film school.

Without any exposition, this scene communicates Bruce's psychology in adopting an ominous alter ego like Batman. The way it's shot at a low angle from Bruce's perspective, you get a sense of how small and afraid he felt at that moment. Notice he's also exposed in the light, at the mercy of these guys towering over him in the shadows. Throughout the film, we see the reverse: Batman in the shadows, shot at a low angle from the criminal's perspective.
