Bad Customer Service Experience With Circuit City

A while back I bought a monitor online from Circuit City. The monitor was incorrectly marked as having a rebate. It was a mistake that was made on the Circuit City website, and it was the primary reason I chose this particular monitor.

Once I realized what happened, I called customer service. After a while, I decided to start recording the call. These are the results.

There is a slideshow displaying photos I took here in Colorado so that you aren't just sitting there staring at a blank screen while the audio plays.

The gift card did show up a week later, I used it on something in the store, and never set foot in a Circuit City after that. Then they went out of business.

PS The state I live in is a single-party consent state, meaning that it's OK to record a conversation as long as one of the parties involved in the conversation is aware of and consents to the conversation being recorded.

Best Buy does the same thing to me. Their website always has errors on it also, someone told me they do it on purpose in order to make more sales, then they remove the advertisement or the deal from their web site within a day or so after they made plenty of sales on the faults advertisement. And then there's no reasoning with them, only choice is to keep it or take it back.

@ArtTheMovement Yeah, that's why I always print out the page on their website and take it into the store. Now though, they have a sign on the door that says they WILL NOT price-match with what's on their own website. Fortunately I gave up shopping at physical stores for electronics long ago. Easy way to get ripped off.
