I'm starting to obtain the philosophy of "Old things working better than new ones"

@rbtupper I'd say you're in the minority. Odds are you simply weren't taught properly.

I've been using my grand dad's Gillette adjustable single blade razor since about 1990. I have rarely shaved with anything else, and get a super comfortable close shave. I used to cut myself often in the beginning, almost never anymore. And, the blades are only $2 for 10. That will last me several months. I also use soap scraps and a boars hair brush. No waste, no cans to buy and throw away. Everyone should try shaving this way.

Thanks, sir! I'm a dark-skinned man and hate how the regular razors give me bumps. This technique really worked for me.

The smug attitude, it hurts.

@SpitfireK5054 Getting a close shave with a DE takes time I suppose. But if you have plenty, then you should be able to get as close a shave as with the multi-bladed ones.
Not that I would know, I never tried a DE.
Can it be a good idea to sandpaper the corners of the blade?

Mantic: where do you find the old school razors... I.e., the ones from the 40-50s?
