I joined the Mason a few years ago in Australia. I am now a Master Mason and can honestly say I have seen only good people with good values. This has been one of my best decisions of my life and those around me.

I feel this is a wonderful and informative video that shines a positive light on the Freemason Society. We are builders of a better life that encompasses all. As an active member of the Massachusetts lodge, Boston i personally participate in many community outreach programs, and as a member of the Aleppo Shriners,MA we preform many works for burned children. Please see and judge us by our works, not conspiracy groups. Have a blessed day...

In Massachusetts and Rhode Island (the jurisdictions that I am most familiar with) African Americans and caucasians can join the same lodges, and often do. There are a number of African Americans who choose to join Prince Hall as their personal choice. Both have existed in the United States since before the our nation earned its independence. Price Hall was formed in 1775 (I believe) and traditional Masonry was brought to the states a little earlier. Both are worthy and respectable bodies.

In southern states, there are Prince Hall lodges (for African Americans) and F&AM or AF&AM lodges (for Caucasians). Here in Maryland, there has to be a formal invitation from one lodge to the next, a black mason can't just walk into my lodge (though I think it is far high time that they should be able to). It is getting better in Maryland, and as a whole I think masons are a reflection of society, but there are still some racial tendencies in some states' lodges.

Wonderful video, I am proud to say I am a Freemason!
You are saved through your faith in Christ....not because of your good works....Sorry

Ah, but we are not seeking salvation. We are seeking an improved state of society for ourselves and the people we live with. Faith is very important in driving us, however faith without action is like solving a mystery and never writing it down.

i thought you had to be white to be a mason.

This is simply not true. Your race is not a factor in determining your ability to become a Mason. Your belief in a supreme being and your moral character alone qualify you.

Can a catholic be a mason?

Yes. Absolutely. While I cannot speak for the World over, I know that Massachusetts Masonry is proud to have respected men of many races, creeds and colors amongst our ranks.
