jimmy eat world was labled emo when their first album 'singles' came out. That was in 1994. Emo back then meant emotional. Now it means something completely different.

you mean Bleed American? and it doesn't suck ass. actually they hate people who say their music sucks ass. In his own words"Thanks Callum, every song I write is basically pure emotion. I pour everything I feel into words and tabs, so I guess maybe that's why I react so horribly to things like that. It's just hard for me to comprehend how someone could write off raw human emotion as "crap"."

@MusicViideoChannel "singles" is not their first album. is not even a proper album. the first track of singles, "opener", has been included in a compilation by deep elm record called "the emo diaries vol. 1" so i guess that's where it all begun.

gregorian chant. to define a genre by its emotional nature seems to me not to be saying that its the only genre with emotion, but that it's notable for being at the high end of the scale..
