That depends. You can but then you have to put them back on. The best way is just to add a 1/4 round over the floors edges against the existing base trim.

I'm looking to do my floors also, and my biggest question is, do I remove my baseboard when I lay the floors or do I leave it there?

Do you think the free floating floor could move or buckle after a few months of years...

move no. Buckle, sure. But if it was to buckle it would be caused by moisture. Just make sure you install it right with the right padding and if needed, basement maybe, and vapor barrier.

Dominic, i will be using a circlar saw to cut the laminate..do i use a paneling blade to keep it from chipping? And, should i cut from the back side? Thanks..Joe

I use a triple chip blade. But you will pay a few bucks for that. A panel blade is ok but it wont last very long. And I cut them from the top. All edges will be covered up by trim anyway. Just cut slow and you'll be just fine.

Hi Dominic. Thanks for the videos. I will be fitting a laminate floor at the weekend and i was wondering if you could give me some advice. I have a chimneybreast in the middle of the room and an alcove on either side of the alcove. Would i start at the front edge of the chimney then work down both sides into the alcoves then work from the chimney out into the rest of the room. Or start in each alcove and work outwards towards the front face of the chimney? Regards Phil.

In your case seeing would be better for me. However you might be better off start from the fireplace. This way you could start with a full board.
