Ever wanted to know how the music video was made? This video is my attempt to show how the original video was filmed. There is a 20-seconds sequence that is repeated backwards and forwards, and then backwards and forwards again, and again... In each repetition, different parts are zoomed in.
In this video, the original music video is displayed at the right side. The left side shows the restoration of the frames of the original 20-seconds sequence (as much as the music video allows) with a highlighted part that corresponds to the frame at the right side.
Watch the original 20-seconds sequence at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VMNe71tBZmE .
In order to do this I developed a set of Java programs that - with the help of VirtualDub - processed the frames of the original video and produced this one. Manual adjustments were needed in only two frames out of 5741 frames!
I don't have the rights of the song, so this video is muted. The music video with audio is available at R.E.M.'s official website: http://www.remhq.com/.
I'm in no way related to R.E.M. or its label or producers.
Excellent!
