Desde hace mucho, cuando yo tenia 15 anos,este corto intermezzo de corte pastoril me ha subyugado. Con apenas 2.5 minutos mas menos, Bizet consiguio componer una bellisima melodia que pudiera caber en la 6ta. de Beethoven o W. Tell de Rossini. Con un sencillo tema introducido por el arpa y la flauta, que luego aunado a la orquesta y desarrolado a tiempo de adagio y andante, se logra una musica de increible altura y sobre todo PURA CALMA,reflejando el genio del autor.

OMG! I've been looking everywhere for this song! We did Carmen in marching band my sophomore year of high school; this was our second movement. Oh this brings back memories.

btw, what's the correct tempo for this intermezzo? Jurowski's is quite a stride. Levine's is too relaxed...

@Palawancock The correct tempo for you is the one used in the performance you like. :o) Since there are loads of classical/opera fans and they don't all prefer the same thing, it's great that different conductors use different tempo in their reading. That way you can find a performance to really like even if your preference differ from many or most others'.
